Hub to host international workshop on next generation quantum networking

The Quantum Communications Hub is set to host an online international workshop titled ‘Next Generation Quantum Networking: Applications, Use cases, Architectures and Technologies’ across two days (29 – 30 April 2021), bringing together researchers from the Quantum Communication Hub programme and others from similar initiatives across the world.

The workshop aims to facilitate discussion surrounding the technological challenges and solutions for creating the next generation of quantum communication networks featuring enhanced operational capabilities to address the requirements for a variety of applications and use cases, including quantum key distribution, the quantum internet, blind and distributed quantum computing.

The event, which will take place directly after the virtual Bristol Quantum Information Technologies Workshop (BQIT:21), will comprise three sessions, the first being an industry focused panel discussion featuring speakers from major Hub partners such as BT (Andrew Lord) & Toshiba Research Europe Ltd (Andrew Shields), along with others such as Bill Munro from Quantum Science and Technology Laboratory, NTT Basic Research Lab, Japan and Marc Kaplan from VeriQloud, France.

The second session will see researchers from around the world, including several from the Hub (Siddarth Koduru Joshi, Stefano Pirandola and George Kanellos), give a series of short talks on network technologies and applications before discussions over lunch.

Finally, during the third session of the workshop, researchers from the Hub (Alessandro Fedrizzi and Adrian Wonfor) and other initiatives will speak about ‘Use Cases, Challenges & Protocols’.

The full agenda for the event can be seen below. The event is free; however, registration is required, please visit the event website for the registration form.
