A Communications and Outreach Officer position (maternity cover) is available to work on the Quantum Communications Hub project. The position is based at the University of York.
About the role:
You will work as part of an industry/research consortium established to develop quantum secure communications technologies towards a commercialisation-ready stage. You will work with key Hub staff to implement strategies for coherent communications and responsible research and innovation (RRI). You will work to promote the Hub and wider UKNQTP activities to a broad range of stakeholders, through a range of approaches (events, marketing resources) and across many platforms (social media, website, reports). As part of the role, you will be expected to help optimise resources for engaging with a range of different audiences; contribute to the planning and delivery of key engagement events; communicate effectively Hub key messages and success stories, through co-ordinated press releases and news items from across the partnership; work closely with colleagues in the other Hub institutions and the EPSRC UKNQTP Communications Strategy Group to raise the profile of the UKNQTP and contribute to its brand recognition.
We are looking for applicants who have experience of providing first-rate communications support, can demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an aptitude for communicating complex scientific concepts to a range of target audiences, often through writing copy in various formats (website news items, press releases, marketing materials). You will also need to have extensive knowledge of marketing and communications tools and practices, a solid understanding and experience of using digital communications channels including websites and social media, and experience of events organisation.
The post is full-time, fixed-term until 5 April 2023, and is available from 20 June 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.
