The Quantum Communications Hub has published a series of fact sheets highlighting some of the many career opportunities in the field of quantum technologies. The suite of fact sheets, which comprises 11 different roles, includes information on what each role entails, the skills, qualifications and work experience that would be beneficial to someone considering taking up that role, along with information on career progression possibilities and a case study of someone working in that role currently.
Roles included are:
- Quantum researcher in academia
- Quantum technologist in industry
- Quantum hardware engineer
- Cryptographer
- Research software engineer
- Quantum entrepreneur
- Business development manager
- Patent attorney
- Project manager
- Research communications specialist
- Outreach officer
Each of the case studies included within the fact sheets is taken from the Hub’s blog, Quantumness, Randomness and Endless Possibilities, which features interviews with many people from the quantum community, working in a variety of roles.
The hope is that this set, which can be downloaded for free on the Hub website, will continue to expand as more and more roles and case studies are added.
